Sikkim Celebrates Academic Excellence at UDAAN 2024 Interschool Festival
Northeast Desk, 1st October: The Sikkim Education Department, in partnership with the Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club of Gangtok, successfully hosted UDAAN 2024, the largest interschool scholastic festival in the state’s history. Held on September 29, 2024, at PM Shri Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School, the event attracted around 700 students from 50 schools across Sikkim, showcasing a wealth of talent and creativity from every district.
UDAAN 2024 served as a vibrant platform for students to engage in a variety of scholastic and artistic events aimed at fostering creativity, critical thinking, and leadership skills. The festival was divided into age categories, providing tailored experiences for junior, middle, and senior participants. Events included quizzes, word grids, conversational sessions, and fancy dress for juniors, while middle school students participated in a spell bee, math magic, and mono acting. Senior students showcased their skills through creative writing, poster making, and an exciting round of antakshari.
The festival not only promoted academic excellence but also emphasized the importance of collaboration among students, teachers, and educational institutions. It aimed to strengthen community ties and encourage learning among participants. Notable guests graced the event, including Arun Upreti, the RMDD Minister, who served as the chief guest, alongside Gangtok MLA Deley Namgyal Barfungpa and RMDD Principal Secretary D Anandan IAS, who attended as special guests.
In a display of exceptional talent, Tashi Namgyal Academy emerged victorious in the ‘Junior Category,’ while Holy Cross School claimed top honors in both the ‘Middles’ and ‘Seniors’ categories. UDAAN 2024 not only highlighted the achievements of young scholars but also reinforced the value of educational initiatives that celebrate creativity and academic growth in Sikkim.
