Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Advocates for Ho Language Inclusion in 8th Schedule
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s commitment to include the Ho language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, recognizing and promoting the language spoken by the Ho tribal community.
This move aims to safeguard the cultural and linguistic identity of the community.
Sarma’s statement comes amidst ongoing political discussions and efforts to address tribal issues in the region, ahead of the Assembly elections in Jharkhand. He accused the Congress party of being anti-tribal, highlighting the BJP’s proactive approach in promoting tribal welfare.
In a significant development, colleagues in Chaibasa, who initially considered contesting elections separately, are now withdrawing their nominations. This indicates a consolidation of support and unity within the party ranks ahead of the elections.
Sarma emphasized the BJP’s focus on selecting candidates who are actively involved with the party, prioritizing capability and ideology over financial status or family background. This approach aims to strengthen the party’s position in Jharkhand by fielding candidates who align with its principles.
