Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Rs 25 Crore Remark Sparks Controversy

Singhbhum: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a public rally in Jamshedpur, East Singhbhum district, on November 11, urging voters to treat the upcoming Jharkhand elections as a decisive battle for the state’s future. Sarma emphasized the need to protect “Maati, Beti, Roti”—representing land, daughters, and livelihoods—as he rallied support for his party’s cause.

In his speech, Sarma raised concerns over demographic changes in regions like Pakur and Sahibganj, questioning the current government’s performance and its unfulfilled promises. He specifically criticized the failure to provide five lakh jobs, a promise that was made but never realized. “Why should the people vote for an administration that has not delivered on its commitments?” he asked, urging voters to consider the track record of the current government.

The Chief Minister also referred to the controversial recovery of Rs 25 crore from the residence of Alamgir Alam, a prominent politician, questioning whether he would have been given an election ticket by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had such an amount been found at his home. Sarma noted that despite this, Alamgir Alam was given an election ticket by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Sarma’s speech resonated with a call for change, urging the people to reject Congress and ensure a better future for the next generations. “Voting for Congress would mean destroying the future of our children,” he warned.

As he concluded his address, Sarma called on citizens to join the fight for the protection of their cultural and societal values, urging them to vote with a sense of urgency to safeguard their “Maati, Beti, and Roti” in the upcoming elections.
