Kiren Rijiju Calls for Unity in Celebrating Constitution Day

Arunachal: On Constitution Day, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju underscored the historic significance of the occasion, urging leaders across political lines to unite in honoring the foundational values of India’s democracy.

Describing the event as a “sacred occasion,” Rijiju emphasized that the day is not just a commemoration but a reaffirmation of the nation’s commitment to its constitutional ideals.

Members of both Houses of Parliament gathered at the Samvidhan Sadan alongside President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark the event. Highlighting the importance of bipartisan respect, Rijiju appealed to political leaders to set aside differences. “This is a moment of national reflection. I urge all political parties to celebrate Constitution Day in the spirit of unity and reverence,” he said.

Rijiju also cautioned against using the Constitution as a platform for partisan discourse, advocating instead for collective acknowledgment of the democratic principles that guide the nation. Constitution Day serves as a solemn reminder of India’s enduring commitment to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity—values enshrined in its guiding document.
