Assam Government Announces Artist Pension Scheme for 2024-25

Guwahati: In a landmark move to support and honor the artistic community, the Assam government’s Cultural Affairs Department has revealed the recipients of the Artist Pension Scheme for 2024-25. A total of 73 artists from across the state will receive a monthly pension, as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to sustain the cultural fabric of Assam.

The initiative also extends to the families of deceased artists, with 29 families set to receive family pensions of Rs 8,000 per month, starting January 17. This move aims to provide financial stability to the families of those who contributed significantly to Assam’s rich cultural heritage.

Further expanding its support, the government announced a one-time grant of Rs 50,000 for 179 artists from various districts of Assam, recognizing their artistic achievements. Additionally, families of 10 artists will receive one-time special assistance, while five differently-abled artists have been included in the one-time grant scheme.

This comprehensive support package reinforces the government’s commitment to cultural preservation, artist welfare, and the recognition of Assam’s artistic community.
