Tripura: BSF 81 Battalion Commandant Honored for Excellence in Border Security
Agartala: In a ceremony held in Agartala, the Director General of Tripura Police, Amitabh Ranjan, awarded Rakesh Sinha, Commandant of the 81 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), with the prestigious Director General’s Commendation Card and Disc.
This recognition was bestowed for Sinha’s exceptional contributions to border security and the operational excellence of the 81 Battalion.
Deployed at the Sonamura border in Sepahijala district, the 81 Battalion, under Sinha’s leadership, has been pivotal in curbing cross-border crimes, preventing infiltration by Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas, and ensuring the seizure of smuggled goods. The battalion’s relentless efforts have significantly enhanced the security and stability of the region.
The commendation highlights not only the battalion’s operational success but also its exemplary administrative efficiency. Earlier last month, the 81 Battalion seized over two kilograms of gold valued at ₹1.74 crore in NC Nagar. Despite adverse conditions like heavy fog, the battalion thwarted smuggling attempts by Bangladeshi nationals who abandoned contraband while fleeing.
This recognition underscores the collaborative spirit between Tripura Police and central forces like the BSF in maintaining national security. It stands as a testament to the dedication and commitment of Rakesh Sinha and his team in safeguarding India’s borders.
