AAP’s Manish Sisodia Files Bail Plea; Hearing on Saturday
Guwahati: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s leader Manish Sisodia submitted a bail request to the Rouse Avenue Court in the nation’s capital on Friday in the liquor excise policy scam case, which resulted in his five-day CBI detention on February 27.
The bail hearing will take place on Saturday, when Sisodia’s five-day CBI custody ends.
Sisodia was taken into jail by the CBI on Sunday and was asked to stay for five days. According to the investigative agency, Sisodia was withholding information and was not helping with the investigation.
Workers and leaders of the AAP protested the detention of Sisodia throughout numerous states. According to the party, the BJP attacked him in order to draw attention away from the continuing dispute with the Adani Company.
Moreover, Sisodia appealed his arrest to the Supreme Court of India, but it rejected his request and told him to appeal to the High Court.
The lieutenant governor of Delhi requested that the CBI look into any possible irregularities and corruption involving government officials, bureaucrats, and others once the excise strategy was abandoned in August 2022.
Sisodia was arrested a few days ago in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the formulation and application of the Delhi government’s excise policy.
The Supreme Court declined to hear Manish Sisodia’s appeal of his arrest in connection with the excise policy case, therefore the top court advised him to go to the Delhi High Court instead.
The court is not inclined to accept the case at this time, according to a bench presided over by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who also advised Sisodia to appeal to the Delhi High Court.
Delhi’s Minister Satyendar Jain was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Tihar Prison regarding allegations of corruption in the administration of the Delhi Excise Policy.
