AICC Spokesperson Radhika Khera Resigns, Cites Criticism Over Ayodhya Visit

Guwahati, 6th May: Radhika Khera, spokesperson for the All India Congress Committee (AICC), announced her resignation from the party on May 6, attributing her decision to criticism surrounding her visit to Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. Khera expressed disappointment over the lack of support and justice for her amidst an incident at the Chhattisgarh Congress office.

In her resignation letter addressed to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Khera publicly shared her decision on social media. She underscored the cultural significance of Ayodhya for Hindus, particularly highlighting the importance of the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. Despite her deep-rooted belief in these sentiments, Khera faced opposition, leading to her decision to step down from her party membership and position.

Reflecting on her more than 22 years of dedicated service to the party, Khera recounted her journey from the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) to her role as the AICC’s communication and media coordinator for Chhattisgarh. Despite her unwavering commitment and sincerity, Khera felt compelled to resign due to the circumstances surrounding her visit to Ayodhya and subsequent criticism.

The decision to resign followed an altercation between Khera and Sushil Anand Shukla, the Chhattisgarh Congress’ communication wing chairperson, on April 30 at the party office in Raipur. The disagreement reportedly arose during discussions regarding the upcoming visit of senior leader Pawan Khera the following day.
