Air India Cabin Crew Arrested at Kochi Airport For Smuggling Gold

Guwahati: An Air India cabin crew member was arrested on Wednesday for smuggling gold at Kochi Airport.

This was informed by Customs Preventive Commissionerate.

The arrestee identified as Shafi, is a resident of Wayanad district in Kerala.

As per reports, he was arrested at Kochi by Customs Preventive Commissionerate.

Around 1487 grams of gold have been seized from his possession.

According to the authorities, Shafi was caught based on confidential intelligence that a member of the cabin crew of the Bahrain-Kozhikode-Kochi flight was bringing gold.

The aim was to pass through the green channel by encasing the hands in gold, covering the shirt’s sleeve, and wrapping it around the hands. The officials stated that he is currently being questioned more.
