Air Marshal SP Dharkar Reviews the Exercise “Poorvi Akash” While at the Tezpur Air Base
Guwahati: Eastern Air Commander Air Marshal SP Dharkar visited the Tezpur air base while the ongoing Command-level exercise “Poorvi Akash”.
The air marshal engaged with the exercise-related equipment during his Saturday visit to the air base.
Due of the Covid-19 epidemic, the exercise is being done after a two-year gap.
In addition, Air Marshal SP Dharkar flew a fighter sortie during an active mission and discussed setup procedures with staff.
The exercise would involve the activation of the Command’s fighter, chopper and transport assets toward the regular rehearsal of aerial drills, including joint exercises, the Indian Air Force (IAF) announced in a statement last month.
“Eastern Air Command will be conducting its annual Command-level exercise during the first week of February 2023. This exercise, named POORVI AKASH, is being conducted after a gap of two years due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The exercise will involve the activation of the Command’s fighter, helicopter and transport assets towards the routine practice of aerial drills, including joint exercises,” the IAF statement reads.
In the midst of the continuing confrontation with China, the IAF will also conduct Exercise Pralay involving all of its key air bases in the northeast, including the recently relocated drone units in the region, according to officials.
Major combat assets of the IAF, including the fighter jets Rafale and Su-30, as well as the transport and other aircraft, would be activated during the exercise, according to officials.
