Ajanta Neog: “This Year’s Budget Will Focus on Self Employment; Revamping Education Sector”

Guwahati: Assam’s finance minister Ajanta Neog stated on March 16 that the state budget for the fiscal year 2023–24 will place a special emphasis on self-employment and the education sector.

Ajanta Neog remarked in a statement to the media prior to the Assam Legislative Assembly’s current session that the government is advocating for the general welfare of the populace with a focus on self-employment.

The finance minister elucidated the sectors that were given more importance in this year’s budget. She said that the fight against poverty and the education sector had received special attention.

Speaking further, Ajanta Neog mentioned that attention has been paid on the socio-economic aspects. “We have focused more on those living below the poverty line while women empowerment will also be on the agenda of this budget,” she added.

According to reports, Question Hour will kick off today’s proceedings in the House. Ajanta Neog would then propose the Indian Partnership Amendment Bill to the House.

The budget for 2023 and 2024 will then be presented by the finance minister. According to rumours, the budget is anticipated to be delivered today about 11 a.m.

Ajanta Neog had previously said that the budget for this year would take into account the socioeconomic conditions of the state as well as some good news for women.
