Amid Flood: GU Exams Postponed in Guwahati

Guwahati: Gauhati University’s post-graduate students’ union (PGSU) met with university officials on Wednesday to discuss a number of issues that had arisen on campus as a result of recent severe rains.

Several portions of the Guwahati city have been submerged as a result of fake floods caused by relentless rain during the last 48 hours.

According to reports, students living in university campus hostels suffered a drinking water deficit. Furthermore, there is no electricity in the area, reports added.

Students are also struggling since floodwaters have inundated some dorms, making life tough for them.

To top it off, semester assessments are beginning at the university, and all of the obstacles have made it impossible for students to focus on their studies, according to a member of the student body.

In this context, the students’ union met with GU’s vice-chancellor, Professor Pratap Jyoti Handique, to try to find a solution to the students’ complaints.

The union member stated at the conclusion of the meeting that the discussions had been constructive.

Meanwhile, the institution has declared that all tests will be postponed until June 20.

Other examinations set for subsequent dates will go forward as planned, according to GU officials.
