Tight security arrangements in place for Tripura bypolls

Guwahati: Tripura police announced on Wednesday that security has been tightened up in all four constituencies ahead of the by-elections slated on June 23.

Flying squads and static surveillance teams have been deployed in seats where by-polls will be held, according to Tripura police.

Security measures have been implemented to ensure peace and order and avert any tragic situations

According to a statement from Tripura police, “Except for a minor incident in 57-Jubarajnagar assembly constituency, no other incident took place during the day. It is pertinent to mention here that Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams have been deployed in all the constituencies.”

At least 20 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and five companies of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) have been deployed to guarantee a smooth election.

It may be noted that the by-elections are being held in Agartala, Town Bordowali, Surma (SC), and Jubarajnagar in Tripura to fill seats that have become vacant.
