Amit Shah: CM Sarma Has Guided the Northeast to Peace
Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Assam CM Sarma has steered the whole Northeast towards a peaceful environment at an event in Guwahati’s Khanapara on Tuesday.
The Union home minister attended an event commemorating the one-year anniversary of Himanta Biswa Sarma’s government at the Veterinary Field in Khanapara.
He came to the event as part of a three-day visit to the state, arriving late Sunday night in Guwahati.
Shah was escorted to the occasion by former Assam Chief Minister and current Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
While addressing the gathering, Shah said “In one year of the CM Sarma-led government, there has been growth in Assam. For that, I appreciate Dr. Sarma and the entire government.”
“I am hopeful that the strict cow protection rules enacted under Dr. Sarma’s leadership will make a significant difference,” he added.
The state government’s handling of the Covid-19 situation in Assam was praised by the Union home minister. The government’s efforts to help citizens infected with Covid-19 should be commended, he said.
“More than 9,000 extremists have jumped ship to join the mainstream. Illegal immigration from Bangladesh has decreased under the present administration” Shah continued.
“Plans are in place for the establishment of at least one medical college in every district of the state, referring to the state’s health sector. Assam would be designated as the country’s ‘Health Hub'” Shah further said.
“Under CM Sarma’s leadership, an atmosphere of peace has prevailed not only in Assam, but throughout the Northeast,” he added. He led the Northeast in the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ festivities.”
Shah thanked the people of Assam for voting for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in both the by-elections and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections.
