Amit Shah to Inaugurate New Assam Rifles Complex In Mizoram

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate a new complex of Assam Rifles in Mizoram on March 17, Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga said on February 28.

According to the CM, Shah will officially open the AR complex in Zokhawsang which is close to Aizawl.

Assam Rifles camp relocation from the centre of Aizawl to Zokhawsang around 15 km from the city was one of the MNF’s top priorities at the most recent assembly elections held in November 2018.

The Assam Rifles were ordered by the Union Home Ministry in February 2019 to move their battalion headquarters to Zokhawsang by May 31 of that year.

Two Assam Rifles bases are located in the centre of the city, in Zodin and Khatla by the oldest paramilitary organisation in the nation.

One is being moved from Zodin to Zokhawsang. In November of last year, Zoramthanga met with Amit Shah and told him that the Assam Rifles camp’s ongoing transfer was delaying infrastructure development in the state capital.

On the other side, Mizoram will host the G20’s Business 20 (B20) on March 1–3, 2023, after all of the necessary preparations have been made.

On March 2, 2023, the B20 main conference will concentrate on potential for multilateral business partnerships in urban planning, infrastructure, bamboo, startups, skill development, handloom & handicraft, nursing, and paramedics. It will take place on the campus of Mizoram University.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga stated during a news conference held at the CM conference Hall that the B20 summit in Mizoram will help start talks on the determined priorities and will begin work towards formulating policy recommendations.
