Anand Sharma discharged from hospital after 83 days

Guwahati: Anand Sharma, a victim of Dibrugarh University ragging case left for his Amguri home on February 18 after 83 days of treatment.

Anand Sharma was receiving physiotherapy and other treatments while staying at Marwari Arogya Bhawan in Dibrugarh after undergoing two life-saving surgeries at Aditya Hospital.

Anand Sharma is being escorted by a team of Dibrugarh Police.

The Anand Sharma family has expressed gratitude and thanks to Assam Chief Minister Himamta Biswa for his assistance, support and initiative.

The family also expressed gratitude to the Assam Education and Health Ministers, the Dibrugarh District Administration, the Police Department, the authority of the Dibrugarh University, the media community, numerous organisations, and well-wishers for their assistance and support.

Rahul Chetri, Pranjit Baruah and Simanta Hazarika, the three prime accused in the Dibrugarh University ragging case were granted bail on February 14.

Police detained them in connection with the Dibrugarh University ragging case.

The prime accused Rahul Chetri surrendered to the police on December 5, 2022. According to the authorities, the accused surrendered at the Lekhapani police station in the Tinsukia district.

Meanwhile, Dibrugarh University appointed a new chief warden for the on-campus housing on Tuesday.

The newly appointed warden has been identified as Dr Diganta Bhuyan who replaced Dr Kalyan Bhuyan.

The university fired Dr. Kalyan Bhuyan in response to Anand Sharma’s racial harassment allegation.
