Andhra Pradesh: 3 Assam people among 5 killed in train mishap

Guwahati: Three of the five people killed by a train in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, on Monday night were identified as Assam residents on Tuesday.

Pasumantri Vajulu, Banishar Basumairy, and Rashidul Islam, all Assamese, have been recognised. The names of the last two victims, in particular, have still to be determined.

On Monday night, five persons were tragically died after being run over by a train in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district.

The five people who perished were from a Guwahati-bound superfast express who had gotten down onto the next railway track when their train halted owing to a technical issue, according to authorities.

These victims were run over by the Konark Express, which was approaching from the opposite way.

After detecting smoke coming out of a compartment between the Cheepurupalle and G Sigadam railway stations in Srikakualm district, some passengers of the Coimbatore – Silchar Express pulled the chain to stop the train, according to police.
