Another new coronavirus strain detected in Nigeria
Another new strain of coronavirus has been detected in the African country Nigeria. The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the new strain has a separate lineage from the variant that appeared in UK and South Africa.
The African CDC has said “While the variant transmits quickly and viral loads are higher…it isn’t…clear whether it leads to a more severe disease.” The new strain is predominant one and it could lead to 1 million infections. Earlier another coronavirus strain was discovered in UK which according to health officials spread 70% faster.
