Anti Drugs Operation by Assam Police in Hajo, 3 Held

Guwahati, 21 May: Assam Police on Sunday detained three drug dealers and recovered a sizeable quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia (any equipment that is used to create, conceal and consume illicit substances) in a big anti-drug operation at Hajo in northwest of Assam’s Guwahati.

A total of 20.5 grammes of drugs were seized as a result of the raids that were performed throughout Barni village.

The detained individuals have been identified as Pinku Ali, Rajul Ali, and Abed Ali.

Notably, Pinku Ali’s home yielded a remarkable 109 containers, while Abed Ali’s home produced 10 containers and several packets of medicines.

The three suspects were apprehended as Raju Ali who was involved in an attempted to drug transaction. Three of them were detained while attempting to sell drugs to Raju Ali.

Police are actively looking into the situation and committed to reducing the threat of drug trafficking in the area.

Earlier on May 16, Assam Police seized a huge amount of illegal drugs worth Rs 3 crores. Over 332 grammes of illegal substances were seized during an operation led by Office-in-Charge of Jamira PS in Hailakandi.

Three accused narcotics smugglers were also arrested by the police during the operation. The arrestees have been identified as Nazrul Hussain Borbhuya, Bikram Riyang and Ajmal Hussain Borbhuy.

Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh reported last week that state police had confiscated drugs worth Rs 1,430 cores over the previous two years.

He also disclosed that 5,580 cases in total had been filed in the state under the NDPS Act.
