Guwahati: The Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) announced on Wednesday that power will only be restored in Guwahati’s Bishnujyoti path and Rukmininagar areas once the water level has receded ensuring the safety of residents.
Notably, the power department has been turning off the lights in the affected districts since Monday night due to severe rains and flooding.
However, the APDCL stated that they are keeping a close eye on the issue.
“As informed by APDCL, as the Bishnujyoti path and Rukmininagar areas of Guwahati are submerged in water, power supply can be restored only after the water level recedes so to ensure safety of residents. The situation is being constantly monitored,” the Kamrup Metro district administration said in a tweet.
