Arrest warrant issued against ex-UP Minister, Swami Prasad Maurya

Guwahati: An arrest warrant was issued against Minister Swami Prasad Maurya in a seven-year-old case.

 

The warrant was issued within 24 hours after the minister quit Bhartiya Janta Party.

According to reports, the arrest is related to a case of the year 2014 where Swami allegedly made objectionable remarks about deities and the matter will be heard on January 24.

 

The UP Minister quit BJP on Tuesday and posted his resignation letter on Twitter. Following his resignation, at least four MLAs resigned from Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet.

 

Meanwhile, on Wednesday another OBC Minister named Dara Singh Chauhan resigned from Yogi’s team.
