Itanagar: Vishakha Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Kurung Kumey district, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Best Preventive State’ award by the State Election Commission (SEC) for her outstanding contributions to maintaining law and order during the electoral process in the sensitive region near the Indo-China border.

A 2020-batch IAS officer, Yadav has served as the district’s Deputy Commissioner for the past year. Her efforts to ensure peaceful, fair elections and prevent electoral malpractices have earned widespread recognition.

In addition to her electoral role, Yadav has shown remarkable leadership with the launch of the “Digi Kaksha” project, which introduced smart classrooms to government schools in Kurung Kumey and Tirap districts. This initiative demonstrates her commitment to improving education in remote areas.

Yadav’s journey to success began in New Delhi, where she excelled academically. After earning an engineering degree from Delhi Technological University (DTU), she transitioned from software development to pursuing civil services. Despite facing initial setbacks in her UPSC attempts, Yadav’s determination and rigorous preparation led to her achieving an impressive All-India Rank (AIR) 6 in her third attempt, cementing her reputation as a dedicated and resilient civil servant.
