Arunachal: NSCN-KYA Camp Busted, Weapons, Explosives Recovered

Guwahati: Security forces raided an insurgent camp on Saturday managed by the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-KYA) in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, recovering multiple rifles and ammunition as well as explosives.

The 14 Rajput Regiment of the Indian Army and the Arunachal Pradesh Police collaborated on the operation.

From the destroyed camp, the forces seized one AK-47 rifle with one magazine, 50 rounds of live ammo, six detonators, three plastic bombs, suspected explosive powder, and other war-related items.

Since March 17, the 14 Rajput Regiment and Arunachal Pradesh police have been conducting a cooperative operation in the 22-mile area of the Miao-Vijaynagar route, busting a camp of NSCN-KYA terrorists, according to Mihin Gambo, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Changlang district.

“We have recovered arms, ammunition, explosives and other warlike stores from the area. The insurgents had escaped from the area before the troops reached the area,” he added.

It may be mentioned that several groups of NSCN are still active in the Changlang, Tirap and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
