Arunachal Pradesh’s TRIHMS Introduces Northeast India’s First Indoor Navigation App
Itanagar: In a groundbreaking move for healthcare accessibility, Arunachal Pradesh’s Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) has launched an Indoor Navigation App, marking the first of its kind in Northeast India. Health Minister Biyuram Wahge officially unveiled the app today, along with a complementary software tool, Scan & Feedback, aimed at enhancing patient experience within the hospital.
Conceptualized by Minister Wahge, the new Navigation Scan App provides a digital wayfinding solution for patients, visitors, and hospital staff navigating the sprawling TRIHMS complex in Naharlagun. By simply scanning the software, users can receive real-time guidance to various departments, ensuring seamless movement within the multi-building facility.
Minister Wahge emphasized the app’s significance, particularly for patients with vision impairments or disabilities, as it allows them to move through the hospital with ease using their smartphones. TRIHMS Director Dr. Moji Jini hailed the initiative as a long-awaited necessity, stating that it would enhance accessibility, improve patient experience, and boost staff efficiency while reducing operational burdens.
Dr. Gomi Basar, head of the IT department at TRIHMS, likened the app’s functionality to Google Maps, noting its ability to provide precise directions to critical areas such as the blood bank and emergency units. The technology was developed by IIT Mumbai graduate Premjit Kumar, who highlighted the app’s role in streamlining hospital navigation and improving efficiency for both healthcare personnel and visitors.
With this pioneering initiative, TRIHMS sets a new benchmark for digital healthcare solutions in the region, reinforcing Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to technological advancements in public health infrastructure.
