Arunachal: Tawang Police Hold NCORD Meeting to Strengthen Anti-Narcotics Efforts
Tawang — The Tawang Police organized a District-level Narcotics Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, aiming to reinforce collaboration among agencies to combat narcotics activities in the region. The meeting, chaired by in-charge Deputy Commissioner Sang Khandu, brought together key district officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Tasso Kato, Divisional Forest Officer Piyush Gaikwad, DDSE Tawang Hridar Phuntsok, as well as intelligence agency members, paramilitary forces, and representatives from the local Bazaar Committee.
During the session, Dy SP Tasso Kato outlined the district’s ongoing strategies to curb drug trafficking and appealed to Bazaar Secretaries and Gaon Burahs for community-level intelligence to help identify drug peddlers. Bazaar Secretaries proposed conducting unannounced inspections in local markets to deter illegal activities, a suggestion supported by the representatives from the Intelligence Bureau and paramilitary forces who offered additional ideas for inter-agency cooperation.
Concluding the meeting, Sang Khandu highlighted the importance of maintaining vigilance despite the low rate of NDPS cases in Tawang, advocating for proactive measures to prevent potential drug threats. He emphasized that regular NCORD sessions and close collaboration among intelligence agencies, paramilitary forces, and Bazaar Committees are essential for early intervention and sustained narcotics control.
