Assam: 2 Killed In Clash Over Land Dispute In Cachar

Guwahati, 14th March: An intense altercation unfolded today in Khelma village, situated in the Katigora subdivision of Cachar district, as two factions clashed violently over a disputed land, plunging the locality into chaos. The confrontation escalated tragically, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving numerous others injured.

According to reports, the confrontation erupted during the early hours of the morning, swiftly escalating into a physical brawl. Armed with sticks and other weapons, one faction launched a brutal assault on the other, resulting in severe injuries to several individuals from both sides.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, evacuating the injured to the nearby Kalain Health Centre for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, two victims, identified as Raju Baishnab and Direndra Baishnab, succumbed to their injuries. Others with serious injuries were referred to the Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for further treatment.

Tragically, the turmoil continued even after the loss of lives. The premises of the Kalain Hospital, usually a place of healing, became a battleground as tensions soared following the fatalities. Law enforcement authorities intervened to restore order amidst the chaos.

The incident has left the entire locality on edge, highlighting the volatile nature of the ongoing land dispute. Authorities are poised to launch a comprehensive investigation to apprehend those responsible and prevent further escalation of violence.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragedy, the urgent need for dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes is underscored.
