Assam: 24 Cattle Heads Rescued in Biswanath

Guwahati: In a continuous drive against cattle smugglers, Assam Police rescued 24 cattle heads from a truck in Biswanath district of Assam.

This was informed by officials on Tuesday.

Police had input that cattle were being smuggled and set up a Naka checking accordingly at National Highway 15 in the Borgang on Monday night.

Police intercepted a truck bearing registration number NL-02Q-7983 which was coming from the Gohpur side and found 24 cattle heads.

However, the driver escaped from the spot after seeing the police team.

Moreover, police informed that out of 24 cattle, one cattle was found dead.

“During Naka checking, we intercepted the truck, but the truck driver fled after seeing the police team. During the search, we found 24 cattle heads in the truck and seized the vehicle. Out of 24 cattle, one cattle was found dead. Further investigation is on,” police officer of Borgang police outpost, B. Bey said.

Meanwhile, legal action has been initiated and further investigation is on into the matter.
