Assam: 92 kgs of suspected cannabis seized by state police in Morigaon, one held

Guwahati, 20th February: On February 19, the Assam Police, led by the team from OC Bhuragaon PS, achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending Ruhul Amin, a resident of Merbeel Chapori, and confiscating approximately 92 kilograms of suspected cannabis (Ganja) along with the transportation boat near Sibbari Ghat. The operation, guided by reliable intelligence sources, underscores the police force’s unwavering commitment to combatting illegal activities in the region.

The arrest of Ruhul Amin represents a notable milestone in the ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related crimes in Assam. Legal proceedings are underway against the accused individual, highlighting the state’s resolute stance against such offenses.

This recent success closely follows another significant operation conducted by the Assam Police on February 16. Acting on specific information, law enforcement officials conducted a search operation in Mirza, Kamrup district, resulting in the seizure of five soap boxes containing a total of 70 grams of suspected heroin from an Alto car. The estimated value of the confiscated heroin is approximately Rs 1 crore.

During the raid, three individuals—Drona Gogoi, Nayanjyoti Saikia, and Sunil Gogoi—were apprehended in connection with the illegal possession of narcotics. The police have seized the contraband items, along with the Alto vehicle, as part of their ongoing investigation into the matter.
