Assam: AAHVSA Dhubri Spearheads Zoonotic Disease Awareness at School Event
Guwahati: Dhubri witnessed a significant outreach effort today as the Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Association (AAHVSA), Dhubri branch, successfully conducted an awareness campaign centered on zoonotic diseases and their far-reaching consequences on human lives.
The awareness drive unfolded at B.C Memorial School in Dhubri, where enthusiastic students from classes seven and eight actively participated in the informative session.
The program was expertly guided by Dr Jyotishree Barua, and it benefited immensely from the presence of Atifa Ahmed, the respected headmistress of B.C Memorial School. Lending their valuable knowledge and support were Dr Jani Borah, Dr Jyotimalita Roy, Parvin Sultana, Safika Alam, and Dr Mahfuza Begum, all dedicated professionals from the Dhubri Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department, alongside committed teachers and officials.
During the session, Dr Jani Borah delivered an engaging lecture, shedding light on the fundamental aspects of zoonotic diseases, clarifying their origins and the various pathways through which they can transmit from animals to humans.
Building upon this foundation, Dr Jyotimalita Roy provided a comprehensive explanation of the diverse ways in which these diseases can affect human health and overall well-being, stressing the critical need for public understanding and proactive prevention strategies to curb their spread.
The involvement of young students in this crucial campaign underscores the forward-thinking approach of AAHVSA Dhubri in fostering health literacy within the community from a young age. The active participation of the school’s leadership and veterinary experts highlighted the strong collaborative spirit aimed at promoting awareness and collectively protecting public health against the potential threats posed by zoonotic diseases in the region.
