Assam: Accident Claims Life of School Bus Driver in Guwahati
Guwahati, 11th June: A tragic incident unfolded on Monday night in the Kahilipara area of Guwahati, resulting in the untimely death of Jitu Hazarika, a 38-year-old school bus driver for RNS Academy. Hazarika lost his life after an electric pole fell on him while he was en route to pick up his child from tuition.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who attribute the accident to the sub-standard quality of work and negligence by the authorities. Demands have emerged for the removal of old and worn-out electric poles in the area to avert similar tragedies in the future.
Eyewitnesses recount that the accident occurred as Hazarika, a resident of Lok Bandhu Nagar, was riding his bike to collect his child. Without warning, an electric pole, weakened and seemingly neglected, collapsed, fatally striking him.
In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, the public is calling for immediate action to address the issue of deteriorating infrastructure. They stress the importance of implementing stringent measures to uphold public safety and prevent such accidents from recurring.
