Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Condemns Ambush on Chief Minister’s Convoy

Northeast Desk, 11th June: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has vehemently denounced the ambush on the Chief Minister’s advance convoy near Kotlen village along National Highway 37. Former Chief Minister and current Opposition leader, Okram Ibobi Singh, addressed the media, labeling the attack as “unfortunate” and holding the ruling administration responsible for failing to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.

Singh emphasized the necessity for the government to implement comprehensive precautionary measures and gather prior intelligence before allowing the Chief Minister’s convoy to proceed on the highway. He condemned the perpetrators of the attack, which resulted in the injury of a police driver identified as 32-year-old Moirangthem Anjesh.

In addition to condemning the ambush, Singh raised concerns about the recent violence in Jiribam district, asserting that the state government has lost control over the law and order situation. He criticized the government’s approach, suggesting that rather than focusing solely on relocating villagers, security forces should prioritize the protection of civilian lives and their property.
