Guwahati: Over 500 people along with Acharya Pankaj Pathak joined the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in a function of the party headquarters at Ambari in Guwahati on Friday.
He joined the AGP, which is a partner in the BJP-led coalition party in Assam, in presence of the party president and Assam agriculture minister Atul Bora.
The joining programme was also attended by Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta and senior party leaders.
AGP was born after the success of the Assam agitation of 1979 against Bangladeshi infiltration into Assam.
