Assam aims for another world record with 25000 Bihu Dancers
Guwahati, 2 July: Assam is preparing for yet another effort to set a world record in the field of cultural heritage with plans for a large-scale Bihu dancing performance in New Delhi, announced by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The ambitious project seeks to assemble 25,000 Bihu dancers from all over the state in an outstanding gathering. This declaration was made at a ceremony where the Chief Minister appointed Bimal Bora, the Minister of Culture to lead the event’s planning. The event is expected to take place by the year 2026.
This declaration comes in the wake of Assam’s most recent accomplishment which occurred on April 15 of this year when it entered the Guinness Book of World Records and made history.
In one location, almost 11,000 drummers and dancers performed the traditional “Bihu” dance and played the “dhol.” The State Government organised the event which took place at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati in an effort to break an existing world record.
A wide variety of performers, including singers, instrumentalists and dancers took part in the event. Traditional instruments from the state including the Taal, Dhol, Gogona, Pepa, Toka, and Xutuli gave the performance a local flavour.
Extensive practise sessions across the state will be held to find and highlight the greatest performers in order to guarantee the success of the next event in New Delhi. The goal of these initiatives is to raise awareness of Assam’s rich cultural history on a worldwide scale.
All the performers, including the drummers and dancers would get a payment of INR 25,000 as appreciation for their exceptional involvement. Leading the initiative, the Chief Minister will personally award these prizes to the performers at various events conducted throughout the state. This action encourages more people to take pride in and contribute to Assam’s cultural tradition while also recognising their hard work and talent.
Aiming to break Assam’s previous record, the mass Bihu dance festival in New Delhi is expected to be a big affair. With the assistance of the government and the excitement of the participants, Assam wants to once more make history and solidify its status as a leader in cultural achievements.
