Guwahati: Tensions erupted after a BJP worker died after being hit by a dumper on Sunday night in Cachar district of Assam.
According to reports, the BJP worker was operating the vehicle when it was struck head-on by a speeding dumper hauling sand.
The deceased have been identified as Sohail Ahmed. He was taken by ambulance to the Silchar Medical College Hospital, but it was already too late.
Following the incident, the situation became heated over the fatality, and irate residents attacked the dumper vehicle and set it on fire. Later, police officers arrived at the location and stabilised the situation.
The incident was reported in the district’s Udharbond area.
