Silchar: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) has shot himself dead at Silchar Sadar Police Station with his service revolver on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Gaur Bidhu Singh.
Singh reportedly shot himself in the head with his own service handgun. The reason for the suicide of the Assistant Sub Inspector is unknown.
Silchar has been shaken by the occurrence.
In the meantime, Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Kaur of Cachar went to the scene.
The body of the deceased ASI has been taken to the Silchar Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination (SMCH).
It may be mentioned that ASI Gaur Bidhu Singh was a resident of Mainarband in the Udharbandh constituency of the Cachar district, of Assam.
