Guwahati: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Laharighat Police Station was suspended on Monday after a video of him brutally abusing a minor in the police station’s premises surfaced on social media.
In the viral video the police officer can be seen repeatedly beating a minor kid with a stick, despite the boy screaming and urging him to stop.
The incident took place inside the Laharighat police station in the Morigaon district of Assam.
According to reports, the minor was found stealing biscuits from the police official’s vehicle which has kept in the police station premises.
The minor boy is suspected to be between the ages of 13 and 14.
He was allegedly apprehended while stealing biscuits from a vehicle parked inside the police station’s grounds.
However, he was later taken inside the station and beaten up by the police officer.
