Assam: BJP Breaks Congress Stronghold in Samaguri with Landmark Victory

Assam: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made history by winning the Samaguri assembly seat, ending the Congress party’s decades-long dominance in the constituency.

BJP candidate Diplu Ranjan Sarma clinched a decisive victory, defeating Congress candidate Tanzil Hussain by a significant margin of 26,200 votes.

The victory is seen as a major political shift, as Samaguri has long been considered a bastion of the Congress party. Tanzil Hussain, son of veteran Congress leader and Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain, was widely expected to retain the seat. However, the BJP’s aggressive campaigning, coupled with targeted voter outreach, turned the tide in its favor.

After the results were declared, Diplu Ranjan Sarma expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Samaguri for their overwhelming support. “This victory belongs to the people. We will work tirelessly to bring development and prosperity to the region,” Sarma said during a celebratory gathering.

The by-election result marks a significant boost for the BJP as it continues to consolidate its position in Assam. The win in Samaguri is particularly symbolic, signaling the erosion of Congress’s traditional strongholds and strengthening the BJP’s momentum ahead of upcoming elections.

Political analysts believe the BJP’s win in Samaguri could have far-reaching implications for the political landscape of Assam, highlighting the party’s growing influence and strategic successes in regions once dominated by the opposition.
