Assam: Body of Youth who Jumped Off Tezpur Bridge Recovered

Guwahati: The body of a youth who had fallen off the Kaliabhomora Bridge in Tezpur of Assam has been recovered.

Reports claim that the body was found following a joint search and rescue operation by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and river police in the Brahmaputra River.

They also found mobile phone belonging to the deceased, identified as Nihal Kakoti.

Notably, Nihal leaped off the Kaliabhomora Bridge on February 11.

Initial accounts state that he was crossing the bridge when he paused to pray to the powerful Brahmaputra River, however, without anyone’s notice he immediately jumped off the bridge at around 5 pm.

Another young man who was with Nihal at the time of the incident rushed to the local police station to report it.

After receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and informed State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to launch a search and rescue operation.

Meanwhile, the reason behind Nihal’s action is yet to be ascertained.
