Assam: Cachar district announced 1K reward for child marriage informers
Guwahati: The Cachar district administration has announced incentives for child marriage informants as well as scholarships for children who have been saved.
The measures were announced at a government-sponsored event on Friday commemorating the 8th annual child protection day which was organised by the Cachar district child protection unit in collaboration with the Assam State Child Protection Society.
Keerthi Jalli, the deputy commissioner of Cachar declared that anyone who offers information on child-related concerns in the district will be given a reward of Rs 1,000.
She also announced fixed deposits and scholarships for the youngsters which will be used for further education after they turn 18.
Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty pledged to build a children’s shelter and promised a one-time financial contribution of Rs 20,000 to Nibedita Nari Sangstha, a non-governmental organisation. He also mentioned that he will donate a vehicle to help with human trafficking prevention.
Earlier, the Kerala government has annouched to provide an incentive worth Rs 2,500 to people who inform the government about child marriages before they get solemnised in the state.
