Assam: Cinema Halls to Reopen Soon

Guwahati: Following the major protest by the All Assam Cinema Hall Employees Association in the state on Sunday , the Health Minister Keshab Mahant stated that the decision to reopen Cinema Halls will be taken in October.

While talking to media Mahanta said that the decision over reopening the Cinema Halls in the state will be taken next month after reviewing the COVID-19 situation this month.

He further said that even if the government will reopen the cinema halls there will be strict COVID-19 protocols and the netizens along with the workers of cinema halls will have to adhere the protocols for safety.

Talking about the curfew imposed in Assam due to COVID-19, Heath Minister informed that the curfew might get relaxed next month during the Durga Puja celebrations. However, the decision will be taken depending upon the infection rate in the state.

It may be mentioned that on Sunday a wide protest was staged by the All Assam Cinema Hall Employees Association in the state where the workers were demanding for an immediate decision over the reopening of cinema halls.
