Assam CM: All Services To Be Available Round-the-Clock, Government Goes Digital

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on January 1 that the government has made itself available 24/7 and transformed all services to digital format.

“The government’s main motive is to provide online or digital services to all. Government can run from the back office. We should be ready enough to provide a driving license or ration card at 2 am as well. Government can be round the clock,” CM Sarma said while interacting with several media persons on the first day of the New Year.

“Government should not be limited to the 10-4 pm time schedule, it is a 24 hours activity. If one wants a trade license, the person will get it even at 3 am,” he added.

The state administration made a significant effort to digitise all of its services.

There is a special law requiring that one attend for a physical examination for DTO services. This cannot be disregarded. There is no further obligation for people to go to a DTO office aside from the physical test.

The transportation agency evenly distributes all cases which will help 15 lakh individuals.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that if a person’s father or guardian is recorded in the database as a ST or SC, they need not worry about seeking for a caste certificate. The person will immediately receive the caste certificate after evidence of the father’s membership in the designated category is presented.

The state government is planning mulling plans to completely digitalise labour department.
