Assam CM: Govt to set up colleges in Minority areas
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister himanta Biswa Sarma stated that in the state there will be at least one college in each minority area. Adding his statement, he said there should be a lot of schools and colleges in minority areas.
He further added that the college would be set up with a special emphasis on women’s education.
A similar effort, according to the CM, will be made in areas populated primarily by indigenous people and tea tribes.
“The government’s goal is to provide general education in place of madrassa education in minority-dominated areas,” Sarma said. “The government has a plan to open at least one college in all minority-dominated districts, with a specific focus on women’s education.”
The state administration is considering preparing a roadmap to carry out the plan, as well as recommending the number of colleges that should be established in these areas.
It may be mentioned that he also stated that a model school would be established in each assembly constituency.
