Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Distributes Land Pattas in Kamrup District, Announces Mission Basundhara 3.0
Guwahati, 16th August: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed land pattas to 881 residents of four villages in Kamrup district during a ceremony at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Amingaon. The land pattas, covering 369 bighas, 2 kathas, and 10 lechas, were allocated to villagers from Barpalaha, Gog, Dakshin Mandakata, and Bhomolahati in Barbangshar Mouza.
In his address, CM Sarma underscored the significance of land ownership, noting that the absence of land pattas often leads to difficulties, including challenges in receiving fair compensation during land acquisitions and limited access to bank loans. He emphasized the importance of the distribution, particularly for those whose land may be acquired for infrastructure projects like the Guwahati Ring Road.
Sarma also announced the launch of Mission Basundhara 3.0 in October, which will focus on issuing land pattas to Namghars, schools, and institutions, and converting shared leases into private ownership. Additionally, he revealed plans for new legislation aimed at preventing the sale of land to non-indigenous communities in the undivided Goalpara district.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Environment and Forests Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, BJP Assam President Bhabesh Kalita, MPs Bhubaneswar Kalita, Dilip Saikia, Bijuli Kalita Medhi, MLA Diganta Kalita, and District Commissioner Keerthi Jalli.
