Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Highlights Indian Resilience, Calls for National Unity

Guwahati, 20th May: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the resilience and valor of the Indian spirit, drawing parallels between historical figures and contemporary leaders during a public event on May 20. Sarma invoked the legacies of figures like Aurangzeb and Lachit Barphukan to underscore the indomitable nature of the Indian ethos.

“Many people will come and go…But, this is the land where we are born… Whether I be the Chief Minister or not, no difference will be there… but my land should be Vishwaguru,” Sarma stated, emphasizing the enduring spirit of India.

Reflecting on historical figures, Sarma remarked, “In our country, Aurangzeb was also born… but what happened… he is known not for good reasons.” This comparison was drawn to illustrate that negative legacies do not stand the test of time.

Sarma also called upon West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, urging her to reconsider her political alliances and prioritize national welfare. “I request West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee… you have time till 2 years after the Lok Sabha elections… leave people like Shahjahan Sheikh… people of the country will not be afraid of people like him,” he asserted.

Drawing parallels between historical and contemporary leaders, Sarma said, “If Bharat Mata has given birth to people like Shahjahan Sheikh… Bharat Mata has also given birth to people like Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to fight against people like Shahjahan Sheikh.” His remarks were intended to highlight the presence of strong and resolute leaders committed to the nation’s welfare.

Sarma’s speech underscored a call for unity and resilience, invoking the past to inspire present and future generations in their quest for a stronger and more unified India.
