Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Launches BJP’s Poll Campaign with Mega Cycle Rally
Guwahati, 1st April: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma initiated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections with a grand cycle rally in Majuli on April 1.
Accompanied by a massive crowd of supporters and party members, Chief Minister Sarma led the cycle rally, with over a hundred participants pedaling behind him.
Expressing enthusiasm about the upcoming elections, Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in the BJP’s ability to secure maximum seats in the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to commence on April 19.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to arrive in Assam for campaign activities on April 6. Sarma revealed that Shah would address rallies in the Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency and in Hojai, falling under the Kaziranga seat, as announced during a briefing at the BJP state headquarters.
Sarma further informed reporters that candidates have already initiated vigorous campaigning efforts in their respective constituencies, with each conducting 10 to 12 meetings daily.
Highlighting a crucial aspect of this year’s campaign, Sarma emphasized the significance of socio-economic surveys conducted by booth committees to identify beneficiaries omitted from government schemes they are entitled to. He assured that the government would rectify any such omissions after the elections.
Addressing inquiries regarding the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state, Sarma acknowledged that certain issues need resolution and affirmed that they would be addressed post the Lok Sabha polls.
