Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Reaffirms Commitment to Fair Administration and Announces New Mutual Transfer Policy for Government Employees

Guwahati, 16th August: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reiterated his commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency within the state administration. Addressing concerns about potential harassment and unfair treatment, Sarma emphasized, “It is my duty to ensure that no one faces harassment or unfairness in jobs, transfers, or any other matters.”

He further urged all government employees to contribute to creating a corruption-free society, stating, “In return, it is the responsibility of all government employees to work for the welfare of citizens.”

In a significant development, Sarma announced that Grade III and Grade IV jobholders in Assam will soon benefit from a mutual transfer policy, similar to the one he previously implemented for teachers during his tenure as the state’s education minister. This policy, which had allowed teachers to work closer to their home districts, is now being extended to other government employees.

“During my tenure as the education minister of Assam, I had introduced a mutual transfer policy for teachers, enabling many to work in their home districts,” Sarma recalled.

Over the past year, the Assam Government has provided more than 43,000 Grade III and Grade IV jobs. The new mutual transfer facility is expected to enable these employees to relocate to their hometowns through mutual understanding, offering significant benefits to a large number of workers across the state.
