Assam CM: No lockdown in state

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that there will be no lockdown in the state.

Talking about the surge of Covid-19 in the state CM said that people have to follow the COVID protocols as the number of Covid-19 cases increases in Assam, for now, there will be no lockdown.

He added, ”We will have to move on without hampering the economy and livelihood of the people.”

The Chief Minister stated that the omicron variant is also increasing in the country and that the third wave might reach the country shortly. However, a review meeting will be held to address this.

It may be mentioned that the CM further said that a meeting will be conducted on Thursday to discuss how to deal with the Omicron situation in the state.
