Assam CM Sarma to Watch ‘The Kashmir Files’ Tomorrow

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will take a few moments out of his busy schedule to watch the critically acclaimed and hyped film ‘The Kashmir Files.’

The Chief Minister will watch the film at PVR Cinemas in Guwahati’s City Center Mall on Tuesday at 6 p.m., (March 15).

Other cabinet members and BJP leaders will accompany him.

Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency. Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher are among the cast members.

On IMDb, the 170-minute film gets a 9.9/10 rating. In its first two days of release, the film grossed Rs. 12.05 crores at the box office. From 3.555 crores on the first day (Friday) to 8.5 crores on the second day (Saturday).

Meanwhile, the governments of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat have declared the film “tax-free.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the film as well.

However, the Assam Cinema Hall Owners Association has asked the state government to make films tax-free in Assam as well as to extend show times at the theatres.

Fans have praised and reviewed the film, with the majority of them praising the plain ‘truth’ conveyed in the film’s 170-minute run-time.

Due to high demand and ticket sales, the number of hall screens has increased from 600 to over 2500 across India. The picture is projected to gross a large sum of money on Sunday.
