Assam Congress Files Complaint Over Death Threats Against Rahul Gandhi
Guwahati, September 23: Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah on September 23 accompanied by members of the Lakhimpur District Congress Committee, filed a formal complaint at Lakhimpur police station, demanding the arrest of three BJP leaders and a Shiv Sena leader for issuing death threats against Congress Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi. The protest saw participation from the Lakhimpur Youth Congress, Block Congress Committees (BCCs), Mahila Congress, and other Congress workers.
The complaint follows a series of public threats made against Gandhi, with Assam Congress calling for swift legal action. In a similar incident on September 18, Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha lodged a complaint in West Agartala, accusing Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad and three BJP leaders, including Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, of making defamatory and dangerous remarks, with Gaikwad allegedly offering a reward for cutting off Gandhi’s tongue.
Both Assam and Tripura Congress leaders have strongly condemned the threats, demanding legal accountability for the intimidation against Rahul Gandhi.
