Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Raises Alarm Over Neglect of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport

Guwahati, 11th July: Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has voiced serious apprehensions regarding the deteriorating condition of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, a facility funded by taxpayers’ money. Taking to social media platform X, Gogoi expressed deep concern over what he perceives as neglect affecting ordinary passengers.

Highlighting the airport’s construction and expansion, Gogoi underscored that these projects, initially celebrated for their promise to enhance travel infrastructure, now appear neglected. He criticized the BJP’s proposal to privatize the airport, arguing that such a move might compromise accountability in maintaining crucial public assets.

“In recent times, there have been alarming reports of declining facilities at the airport, causing inconvenience to travelers,” Gogoi stated in his social media post. He questioned the responsible authorities for the alleged negligence and demanded swift action to rectify the situation.

Gogoi’s remarks come amidst growing discontent over the maintenance and management of public infrastructure across Assam. He urged authorities to prioritize the upkeep of essential facilities like airports, ensuring they meet the standards expected by taxpayers and travelers alike.

The debate surrounding the privatization of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport continues to spark discussions on governance and infrastructure management in Assam, with stakeholders divided on the best approach to ensure efficient and accountable public service delivery.
